Community Hope is committed to teaching
agricultural skills, productive processes and health education to help reduce the hunger and health concern in Developing Countries. This is a Christian based program to manifest the love of God in our communities.
The whole idea of "teaching a man how to fish to feed himself" is Community Hope Inc.'s program base of helping others to help themselves. Mr. James Opicka, now above 70 years in age, from Dayton Ohio, dedicated over 20 years of his life stressing this need in rural corners of the World to solve hunger problems and reduce poverty. His early School years were spent on the farm in Northwest, Ohio. Apprentice Toolmaker at the Ford River Rouge plant in 1957 and got a B.Sc. in Business Administration at Wright State University in 1975. His work experience of Ten years - Tool making, Thirty plus years - Manufaturing Engineering, working in many different different types of industries. To ensure the continuity of this non profit organization, Community Hope Inc. was reorganized in 2007 after Mr. Opicka took up an assignment in Kenya, Africa. |
DIRECTORS
Sir VICTOR O. O'BASUYI has a Master's degree in Systems Control Engineering from Wright State University and has over twenty years of engineering experience at various levels of engineering operations which spans from the nuclear power industry through food production process plant and the revolutionary telecommunications industries. He was a professor for five years in applied science at Central State University and currently the Executive Director of Community Hope Inc. He is a member of Dayton Rotary Club and a Fourth Degree Knight of Saint Peter's Claver. |
Mr. John (Jack) WHITEHEAD earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Florida in 1970. After spending 4 years in the US Air Force, he worked for a company tracking solar system satellites to Mars, Venus and elsewhere and was part of the team which made the first unmanned satellite soft landing on the moon prior to the Apollo missions. He then worked for Tampa Electric Co. (Tampa, FL) and retired after 32 years having worked in power plant engineering, electric system long range planning, utility system operations computer programming, and supervising various projects. John has been married to Carolyn for 46 years and has 4 boys, Don, Karl, Gary, and Phil, with only 1 grandchild (but there's still hope for more). He is a member and deacon in the Church of Christ, Bible class teacher, and part time preacher. His hobbies include water skiing, tennis, and chess. |
Father ISAAC EBIEGBE - Ph.D. Studied Philosophy and Theology at St. Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Ibadan, Nigeria. He was ordained in 1986 and worked as the Personal Secretary to the Bishop. He worked as a Pastoral Associate in various Parishes before proceeding to the University of Dayton where he studied between 1991 and 1997 to obtain an MS. and Ph.D. in Education. Since 1997, he worked as the Principal of Lumen Christi Secondary School, Uromi and later, ICC, Benin City. He is currently working as the Parish Administrator of St. Edward's where he also functions as the Principal of a Day School (Elementary and Secondary). |
Dr. Kienuwa Obaseki Dr. Kienuwa Obaseki attended University of Illinois from 1975 to 1978, receiving a Bachelors of Science in Structural Engineering and Master of Science from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1981. He finally obtained his Ph.D from Michigan State University in 1986 in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structures. Dr. Obaseki professional career of 30 years plus started with part-time work with the Portland Cement Association, helping in the Railway bridge test while pursuing his master's degree and changed job to work with GDS, a sub-contactor with Sargent and Lundy, a company that was involved in building Nuclear Power Plant. His assignment was to analyzed their nuclear components for durability and structural integrity. Upon completion of his Master's Degree, AP engineering, a sub-contractor with Bechtel Corporation building the Midland Nuclear Power Plant employed him. He worked at Midland Nuclear Power Plant for almost a year and proceeded to Michigan State University for his doctoral degree. After his doctoral degree in 1986, Kienuwa Obaseki obtained a job with Detroit Diesel Corporation, a division of General Motors in the USA. Since his employment, the company's ownership has changed hands to Penske Corporation, Daimler Chrysler and now just Daimler (a division of Mercedes Benz). His duties involve analysis of heavy duty engines for the past 22 years to present. Dr. Kienuwa Obaseki serves in the following: · Board of Trustee, Homeland Development, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving lives in Africa. · Board of Trustee, Community Hope; A community based group fostering better Agriculture in Africa · Board of Trustee, Edo Arts and Cultural Heritage Institute; this organization was formed to promote Edo arts worldwide.
